Okay, now that is just a dumb question. I realize.
Most boys wrestle. period.
My boys wrestle everyday, in the arena of my living room.
But we've come to the conclusion that some actual training might be healthy and productive. So we talked to the Miny and Mo tonight about signing up for wrestling with Parks and Rec.
Their initial reaction?
Terror.
Why?
This is what is stuck in their mind concerning a wrestling team:
The following conversation transpired:
Miny: O.K. I'll do it, but you'll have to by me a mouth guard.
Me: Well, we'll see what the coach says you need.
Miny: (giggling) Now that I've set my mind on it, I'm getting really excited.
Mo: I'm not.
Miny: Mo! Do you know that feeling when everyone watches you win and cheers for you?! I do! Everytime I'm at the skate park! I pone people, and it feels great! (yes, he's 8 and uses the word "pone." I have no idea where he gets this stuff...well, I have a few ideas.)
However, we did find out that this particular wrestling program indeed wears t-shirts and shorts.
....and everyone is excited now.

My husband was a wrestler. His singlet wasn't quite that hideous, just so you know!
ReplyDeleteMy dad was a wrestler and his singlet WAS that hideous. LOL The neighbor kid told everyone my dad was a WWF wrestler.
ReplyDeleteMy oldest tried it but, get this, he is too nice. I think his brothers would beg to differ.

I am SO not in with the crowd. What on earth does pone mean?
ReplyDeleteHa! Ha! Its a word for "dominate, beat, etc."
ReplyDeleteI had no idea what pone meant either. But I'm also the one that had to google a couple years ago "what is an ipod?"
ReplyDeleteMy boys have been bugging me about wrestling but I havn't looked into the details yet. Does it start soon or is it in the spring?
Kira, CDA Parks & Rec starts Jan. 3. Registration is through the 31st. They had 6 spots left after we registered. So call right away Monday if you're interested.
