Eeny isn't super excited either. I think I've done a fairly good job so far of not letting him see my fear. But teenagers are scary! Are they not?
Tonight, I took Eeny to the kick-off for the high school youth group summer program. He ran away from me as fast as he could and left me surrounded by these towering giants they call "boys" and a bunch of 93 pound girls (the three pounds are their eyelashes). I found a seat in the back and just observed, working hard not to identify myself as anyone's mother.

I'm so glad, though, that Eeny and Meeny have a solid, church youth group to help them get through these tough years, though. In fact, the name of the high school group is "Stand." I want my boys to stand for something...and not just anything.
We heard testimonies tonight of how God was calling people to serve; listened to some kids sing songs they'd written; prayed over the graduating seniors; got the scoop on the summer mission trips, Bible studies, camp, and events.
How do you hope to keep your teenagers connected with their faith during their teen years? I'd love to hear what your family does?
Jeremiah will be in a youth group as well. And I'm looking for a devotional book for him. Any suggestions?
ReplyDeleteGood question, Shellie. I took Eeny to the store with me, and we just camped in that section for a bit. I let him pick what looked interesting to them. I figured he'd be more likely to actually do it that way.
