Pinterest Paranoia

Are you on Pinterest yet? I just joined, myself, and am getting comfortably addicted. Comment with your user name, if I can follow you. You can find me here.

We're quite possibly moving soon, and I've begun to pack the less essential things around here. I've been going through craft supplies I've totally forgotten about. Perfect timing! One of the things I'm loving the most is coming up with fun snack ideas and craft projects kids can do. My kids have five days left of school, and I'm frantically working to have a good "attack" plan for their next three months at home, while I work.

Do you have a good plan? Daily schedule? I'd love to hear. I was thinking of having a different craft prepared every day, required reading time, chores (need to get a better organized system), etc.

"Comfortably addicted"... is that what I am? ;)

I don't have a daily schedule. With your homeschooling background, I'm sure you get what a relief it is to finally be free of that for a while! However, I do ramp up the chores a bit and require more recreational reading, especially to earn screen time. I did a fun Summer BINGO thing with them a couple of years ago, and they really liked it. The downloads are no longer available at the original source, but you can do a Google search and find several variations.

Last summer we sat down as a family and made a list of 100 things to do (anything from a simple walk in the neighborhood to going out for ice cream to hiking into a lake). We didn't get through the list, so we're carrying it over to this summer.

I'm also having them each do a Daily Summer Activities book (by Evan-Moor) for their respective grade levels. It's just simple practice of math, language, handwriting, geography, etc. to keep their skills sharp.

  3. Wow! Melissa! Those are lots of great ideas! I'd hoped to make some progress on my plans today, but my schedule got re-routed a few times....another normal mom day!
